Dating back to his early teens, Adam was called to pursue worship ministry. Ever since that time, he has been deeply involved with many different ministry opportunities over the years. Leading worship has been a passion that has only grown with age.
Adam’s passion for leading worship also includes a love for hymns, modern & ancient. The growing need of modern hymn arrangements for worship bands led him to develop and launch his new hymns resource site, Hymns4Bands.com in May 2014.
If you’re looking for a worship leader for your church or ministry event, please contact Adam at his booking page. He has been leading for over 15 years and has traveled the country as a worship leader and musician.
Having spent a great deal of time in the studio over the years, Adam has produced several albums. He released his debut worship project in 2014, Adam Layne Fisher: To God Be (iTunes, Spotify). It’s available for purchase through iTunes.
The follow-up live album was released in 2015, Adam Layne Fisher: Live at Barnet Park (iTunes, Spotify). This live worship experience was recorded and filmed at Barnet Park in Spartanburg, SC. Adam was joined by his worship band from Buncombe Street UMC, where he served as Worship Director for nearly 3 years. That band went on to become the Downtown Revival Band.
In 2016, just in time for the Christmas season, the DRB released a full-length Christmas album, Our Savior Has Come, available everywhere.
Way earlier in and back in 2007, he performed on, engineered, mixed and mastered a project with his band, Half Past Forever: Take A Chance On Something Beautiful. This was the group he re-formed with American Idol finalist and curly headed singer/songwriter, Chris Sligh. It is available for purchase on Amazon.
Adam has also produced several indie records that have since gone out of print including three projects with his band, nova77: Lonely Crowd, X Project EP, Alive. And one for the student ministry of Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church, The Voices Of Alabaster: From Him, For Him, About Him
As a songwriter, Adam has been drawn to hymns. Specifically, adding new choruses to existing hymns or rewriting hymns from scratch with new melodies (reimagined hymns). The hymns have such deep theology and wide familiarity that encourages congregational participation.
He loves to co-write with others and has a knack for catchy melodies. One of his most popular reimagined hymns is Shine Down. It was based on the children’s tune, This Little Light Of Mine. With the help of friend, Steve Smith, he built a worship song around the idea of letting the light of God shine to all in the world. Here’s a snippet of the lyric (listen to or watch the song):
Let Your light shine before all men
Give glory to Your goodness
Come let it shine through our lives
We are Your light
Let Your fire burn inside our hearts Lord
You shine through the darkness
Come let it shine through our lives
Heaven let Your light shine down
Great worship songs focus on connecting the vertical emotional experience with the horizontal intellectual (and theological) experience. The marriage of the two is a marvelous thing. This is one of the highest priorities for Adam as he writes new material. His debut worship project clearly shows his interest in churches singing together. It is not enough to create a good song. You must create a song that we all can sing together.
